Happy Cinco de Mayo :)

Some, very few, of you might remember THIS post concerning the events of last year's Cinco de Mayo. (In fact, as I was searching for the post, I realized I missed my "Blog Birthday" in April--poooey!)  After re-reading it, I realized I totally beat-around-the-bush in describing the events leading to my injury. So, it's Cinco de Mayo story telling time :)

Last year the weather was beautiful, so Alan and I decided to invite a couple buddies to a mid-week, Cinco de Mayo lake trip. We were as excited as little kids on Christmas morning to put our boat on the water for the first time during "boating season."  Keep in mind, when I say the weather was beautiful, it means the weather was 80ish here in Oklahoma, but the water was still faaaahhhhhreezing.

We soaked up some glorious, warm sunshine and drank some glorious, cold adult beverages in honor of the Mexican's and Cinco de Mayo!

Anyhow, we all know that when you drink, you pee. Well, fearful that I might suffer some sort of hypothermia from the cold water exposure, I decided it was in my best interest to dip my bottom-er parts into the water to pee (rather than submerging myself).  Lo and behold, I got in an all-out fist fight with the ladder of the boat. It won. By ripping an entire toenail off. :(   When I screamed "I think I lost a toenail," the boys laughed. It wasn't until I pulled my bloody foot out of the water did they realize the severity of my injury. Then, the continued to laugh. Boys!

So, in the middle of the lake, I had to rely on my superior paramedic first aide skills so that I could save my own life.....obviously those boys weren't taking the boat ashore for me to find a band-aide.

So today, in honor of the events of last year, I will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo by painting ALL TEN of my toenails!

(Note: Some of this story might have been dramatized)

Happy Cinco de Mayo, friends!

10 Things I Love, WILW Style

Happy Hump Day, friends!  I'm so thankful for a short work week this week! :) I've been working 55-60 hour weeks for the last 3-4 weeks, but this week I'm only putting in 44 hours, and I have Friday off of work! What makes that even better? My handsome man is off all weekend, and we have some FUN plans! Yippee skippy!

My sweet blog friend, Molly, over at The Fuschia News tagged me in a fun post: "10 Things I Love." I thought it was very appropriate to share on a What I'm Loving Wednesday!

1) First and foremost, I LOVE my husband! I'm so blessed to have him in my life. He is my very best friend, who happens to be super HOT too! :)

2) I LOVE our sweet son---Bentley!  He helped make our house a home when all 5-pounds of his little fuzzy body came to live with us in November 2007. He was probably the BEST birthday present I've ever received.

3) I LOVE being an Aunt! We rejoice in these blessings everyday--and the family members that gave us these lives! :)

4) I LOVE that summer is quickly approaching! We are definitely a water and sunshine family, so we're looking forward to hitting the lake with our boat, Afternoon Delight.
5) I LOVE anything PINK, CAMO, ANIMAL PRINT, or GLITTERY!

6) I LOVE my University of Oklahoma Sooners.

7) I LOVE my friends!

8) I LOVE that this summer we'll be hosting the 7th Annual Float Trip Extravaganza with 30 of our closest friends on the Tahlequah River! We started this tradition in 2005, and it continues to grow :) Feel free to invite yourself!

9) I LOVE that I've been learning to "slow down" a bit. I've actually let my house-hold chores slack, laundry set on the dining room table, and dust to settle on the television stand the last few weeks--and, I'll admit, it feels good! I get more rest and have been able to spend more time do quality things with friends and family.

10) I LOVE my Savior! I continually stand amazed by the love and grace He extends to me each day--more than I ever deserve.

Post for Tricia

Remember that one time that I blogged? Like a million days ago?!

My dear friend, Tricia, who never EVER comments on any of my posts, but apparently stalks my blog, scolded me this weekend for not blogging more often. So, sorry! Ha!

Honestly, I just had a busy week last week. I should've posted an Easter post, but I was a bad picture-taker on Easter :( I hate writing a post with no pictures (like today), so I used that as an excuse.

I'll leave you with this for today.......

Early last week while at work I received a phone call from my more-than-darling husband. He had just called to confirm that he didn't have any plans for Saturday night, because he "kinda took a new job."  Nothing he does or says really surprises me anymore, so I wasn't phased at his new committment, although I still didn't know what it was at this point.  He went on to inform me that he'd committed to being on the "Chain Gang" for all the Tulsa Eagles home football games this season. {Ok, at this point, I'm interested in what he's saying.....I have never, ever heard of the Tulsa Eagles "football team" despite living here my entire life.} Apparently, as the story goes, the Tulsa Eagles would be Tulsa's new NFL (full pad, full tackle) Women's Football Team. Seriously?! Yes. I'll tell you that I took a group of friends to the game on Saturday night to support our favorite member of the chain gang, and I will probably never go back to a game. It was pitiful. Not even funny to watch.

I took plenty of pictures of that event, so I'll post later in the week so you can experience the same misery I did. :)

I Confess

This is somewhat of a confession post. I would not consider myself a work-a-holic, but my work hours require 12+ hour days. I have to do something to break-up the mundane, sleepy afternoon hours. Sooooo.......  I have a small television in my office at work, and lately I've been keeping it on all. day. long.  I've developed a typical television routine over the last several weeks that goes a little something like this:

The Doctors, 9am

The View, 10am
I always swear I'm going to stop watching this show, these women drive me nuts. It's like a train wreck that you can't take your eyes  from.

Rachael Ray Talk Show, 11am
 Then comes the fun stuff.
My afternoon revolves around a series of trashy reality shows. I don't have a set afternoon schedule, since it depends on whatever MTV decides to air. This is where the confession and embarrassment factor comes in to play. Please don't judge me on my preference of shows ;)

16 and Pregnant

Jersey Shore

Real World, Las Vegas

Swamp People

My Super Sweet 16

What I'm Loving Wednesday

My favorite thing about Wednesday.....reflecting on everything that I'm loving :)
I'm LOVING that today is my sweet, silly Momma's (Bentley's Mimi's) birthday! :)
Happy Birthday, Momma! Thank you for all the love and support you continually give us. We feel so spoiled rotten to have you in our lives.

I'm LOVING that this weekend is the celebration of Easter! (Start sermon.)  Other than Christmas, this is probably one of my favorite holiday's to celebrate. I LOVE this time of year, and I love that during the springtime season we get to reflect on the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for each of us.  Jesus used this "holiday" to make all of us new in Him, offering us eternal life with the Father. I find it so fitting that we celebrate Easter during the Spring, when the old things are dying off and new things are blooming into beautiful plants and trees.  Also, April is a month near and dear to my heart. I lost my Granny in April 2009 and my Gramps in April 2010. Thanks to that undeserved sacrifice that was made for us all those years ago, I didn't have to say "good-bye" to those loved ones. Through this sacrifice, I will be united with them again. Oh GLORIOUS DAY! :) (Sermon over.)
Brooke and Paige, Easter 2010
I'm LOVING that I had a weekend full of my girlfriends last weekend. :) LOVE these girls so much.

Last but not least, I'm LOVING these purchases that I made:

Bath and Body Works, Country Chic

Wristlet from New York and Company
for $7.50.....STEAL!

What are you LOVING today?!

Not Enough Hours in the Day

I've been sitting in my office all afternoon staring off into oblivion trying to keep my little squinty eyes open.  We had a wonderful, but super busy, weekend.  I couldn't find time to sleep--so I think I'll catch up tonight with a 7pm bedtime!

I worked just shy of 60-hours last week, stayed up until midnight on Friday preparing for a wedding shower on Saturday, spent most of Saturday continuing to prepare for the wedding shower, hosted a wedding shower with TONS of people, stayed up until 1am cleaning my house post shower invasion, woke up early for church on Sunday, entertained (or just sit and visited with) my mom, grandma, and nieces Sunday afternoon, played two softball games on Sunday night, and finally found myself nestled in my bed at midnight. Phew!

So, whenever I'm finally recovered from my busy bee weekend I'll update you with pictures and what not.

Hope y'all had wonderful weekends too!

Top FIVE Thursday

Through Neely, I've discovered TOP FIVE THURSDAY.

This week: CELEBRITY CRUSHES.

Some of you may not be aware of the "arrangements" that Alan and I have made ;) We each committed to a TOP FIVE celebrity list (but, each hold the power to change it), so if we ever actually meet one of these people it totally won't be cheating. I understand the reality of this happening; however, a girl can dream, can't she?!

FOUR CONSTANTS:

Carl Edwards
Dierks Bentley
(The Namesake of my Son, Bentley)

Jason Aldean

John Cena

NOTABLE MENTIONS
These men rotate on the TOP FIVE list.

 Christiano Rinaldo
Johnny Knoxville
(When he's not on drugs.)

Matt Holliday
He probably is the solid #5 currently, especially since it's baseball season :)

Who are your celebrity crushes?
